Part 2 – Asset Set-up

Before you create asset records, you will need to complete some asset administration steps to set up the pick lists used to create the asset records. If you provide this information to Giva in a spreadsheet, we can rapidly import it into the Giva eAssetManager database saving you data entry time.

There are 11 different optional asset administration steps. The number of asset administration steps that you complete is up to you. The more steps that you complete, the richer the asset profile and asset reports will be for your company.

Add/Edit Asset Types

An asset type is an overall classification of the asset (i.e., desktop PC, cell phone, or laptop). Your choice of asset types depends upon how detailed you want to be in managing your assets. Giva already has added some asset types for you. You can use the defaults, modify them, delete them, or add your own all from one simple screen. Some companies track all assets while others only track assets over a certain value. Once you make your decision, simply select the Add/Edit Asset Types link on the Asset Administration page.
