Advanced Search Hyperlink
Giva eKnowlegeManager provides many options for requesting knowledge because we understand that a wide spectrum of people and abilities will need and use your valuable knowledge every day.
The advanced search knowledge screen has three parts. Step 1 is for natural language or Boolean search. Step 2 is a category search filter. Step 3 is a button to initiate the search.
Natural Language Search Engine
Giva's Natural language search engine is our proprietary technology and evaluates words based upon their meaning and the relative positioning to each other. For example, an exact match of the phrase would have a higher relevancy score than phrases with all the same words in different order. The search engine has a database of synonyms, commonly misspelled words and a thesaurus. It also performs root-word stemming. It can also interpret and differentiate between words that sound alike or have similar letter patterns. These functions help to better interpret the search input in order to generate a higher quality search output. The Natural Language search engine conducts a search of all knowledge records and any attached files. Simply enter a question in your own words.
Key Word and Boolean Search Engine
Enter specific search criteria
When you do not know the question to ask, just enter the words or phrases you do know into the three additional text entry boxes provided. If you know the specific knowledge record, enter the number in the fourth data entry box.
This part of the application works like a Boolean search which incorporates operators such as AND, OR and NOT. However, we have given you three different data entry boxes to use so that you do not have to type the words AND, OR and NOT in your searches.
Find knowledge that have...
all these words
If you want knowledge that will have two key words such as x and y, you would type these words in the field, "all these words." Just separate the words with spaces. Giva eKnowledgeManager returns a list of records with the highest priority given to records that contain a string of words in the same order, then records with the most words contained in the string.
this exact wording or phrase
To search for an entire phrase, put the phrase in the "this exact wording or phrase" field.
one or more of these words
If you want knowledge that will have any key words such as x or y, you would type these words in the fields, "one or more of these words," one word/phrase each field. Giva eKnowledgeManager returns a list of records with the highest priority given to records that contain a string of words in the same order, then records with the most words contained in the string.
But don't show knowledge that have...
any of these unwanted words
If you want knowledge that does not have specific key words such as x and y, you would type the words in the field, "any of these unwanted words." Just separate the words with spaces. Giva eKnowledgeManager returns a list of records with the highest priority given to records that do not contain all these words.
You can narrow the search significantly by optionally selecting a category. The drop down menu provides all the knowledge categories. Every knowledge record has an associated category. For example, you might select Olympus 400 Digital Camera. The search engine will only look at knowledge records with an "Olympus 400 Digital Camera" category designation and apply the criteria specified in the previous fields.
