Healthcare Cybersecurity to be Highlighted at HIMSS17 Conference: Orlando, Florida, Feb 19-23, 2017

HIMSS17

Cyber security has become an important issue for healthcare organizations as attacks on the industry, and in particular on private patient information, have grown more prevalent. A timely opportunity to learn more about the current state of healthcare cyber security, as well as many other pertinent issues in healthcare, is coming soon. The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is hosting their 2017 Conference and Exhibition from February 19th to the 23rd at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

HIMSS17 will span 5 days, include 300 sessions and feature 1,200 exhibitors. As always, there will be the opportunity to network with industry professionals, listen and learn from world-class speakers, as well as witness the latest in cutting-edge health IT products. Conference topics will include areas such as connected health, cyber security and health IT public policy, among many others.

Cyber security will be a major topic of interest once HIMSS17 begins. Data found within the 2016 HIMSS Cybersecurity Survey suggests that identity theft was reported as one of the main sources for healthcare attacks by approximately 75 percent of respondents.

For this reason, among others, one of the first areas of interest for those attending the conference will be the Cybersecurity Command Center. This exhibit will detail information related to the cyber threat landscape as well as display some of the latest technology in IT protection.

Cyber security sessions will continue for the duration of the conference. For more information, as well as a full schedule, please visit the HIMSS17 conference website at www.himssconference.org.
