ServiceSpace, an online platform founded in 1999 to help nonprofit organizations with technical services, evolved into a gathering place for hopeful volunteers and groundshakers. Its mission is to morph the Internet into an inner-net of kindness for people who hope for a better world. One of many online services offered by ServiceSpace is PledgePage.org. This website, originally founded in 1999 by a couple who wanted to raise money to battle blood-cancers, has raised over $3,000,000 for over 9,000 separate people who fought for a variety of social, medical, and environmental causes.
In Detroit, Michigan, winter weather can be unforgiving. The temperature is regularly below freezing and snowfall is common. The weather is especially challenging for individuals who are dealing with homelessness. Many members of the homeless community sleep outside either by choice or due to lack of space in shelters, and they often lack warm clothes and beds. Founded by Veronika Scott in 2011, The Empowerment Plan is a nonprofit organization working to make sure that the Detroit homeless community receives the warmth, shelter and safety it needs.

ServiceSpace, originally founded in 1999, is an online platform dedicated to helping people explore service. This online organization uses technology to create free inspiration hubs and websites for nonprofits and worthy causes. For example, ServiceSpace played an instrumental role in creating DailyGood, KarmaTube, and HelpOthers.
Giva is very pleased to congratulate one of our former philanthropic writing interns, Misha Carthen, for being accepted into the prestigious Loewenstern Fellowship program at Rice University.
The Loewenstern Fellowship provides a yearlong experience for students to conduct service and civic research in parts of Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe. Through classroom and experiential learning, students engage with cultures, people, and problems different than their own and may acquire the skills, insight, and values that will enable them to become principled, civic-minded leaders in the 21st century.

Network For Good enables users to donate to organizations or companies that have worthy causes. Their web service makes donating to organizations easy, quick, and incredibly efficient. But donors are not the only ones who benefit from this service—organizations can also raise more money for their causes by using its services. To provide a scale of the magnitude and effectiveness of their services, they have processed over $1 billion in donations for over 100,000 non-profits since 2001. Network For Good is a hybrid organization (a nonprofit-owned for-profit), their software company securing Certified B Corporation status. Their "About Network for Good" page succinctly describes their various services.

The Mission Continues provides "new missions," such as volunteer work at nonprofits, for veterans adjusting to civilian life. Founded by Navy SEAL Eric Greitens, who returned from Iraq in 2007 after his honorable discharge, he used his own combat money to create the nonprofit, which turned into a federally approved organization soon after.
